The overcast skies reflected his mood that day. Looking in the distance, he wondered if he was making the right choice to improve his lot in life. Forlorn as he was, he felt a glimmer of hope as the birds cawed overhead. He felt they were cheering him on while he stared out at the gray horizon.
Acrylic paints on stretched canvas. Fully finished with high gloss varnish to protect the painting. The painting is 24 inches tall by 30 inches wide and 1 1/2 inches deep. Plaster is used under the paint to create an interesting texture on the canvas.
I began this work intending to do an abstract piece in black, white and grays. The more I worked on it, I began to see a horizon with the texture on the left side conjuring the image of a flock of birds. When looking at it, I can feel myself standing on a beach on a gray day.
