The sun lifts over the horizon, piercing the fog over the lake. The only sounds are the birds chirping to greet the day, the rub of tires on the road, and the click of his gears shifting. This was his last ride before getting on the plane to France. So many miles he has pedaled, sweated, and doubted along the way. He can barely imagine that he has made it this far. He glances at his arena, the water, the trees, the solitary road, and feels gratitude in his heart that he is a Tour De Force.
Tour De Force
Acrylic paints on stretched canvas. Fully finished with satin varnish to protect the painting. The painting is 24 inches tall by 36 inches wide and 1 inch deep. Plaster is used under the paint to create an interesting texture on the canvas.
My nephew told me this work reminds him of riding his bike and getting chain grease all over himself while making road side repairs. This inspired my story for this work.
